Sam Sparro Once Said...

'Cause if you're not really here, then I don't want to be either, I wanna be next to you
Black and Gold

Black and Gold

When it comes to jewelry, I always end up accessorizing with Black and Gold.  And, right now my jewelry obsession is at an all time high and I'm not quite sure why.  Maybe it's the weather, or that I'm just going through another "I hate everything I have" moment.   Bottom line, you can never go wrong with it.  Black and gold is, and always will be, effortlessly chic.  See for yourselves.

Fall Means Fur

If there is one thing in fashion that I will not EVER stand for, it's fakes. Please do not ever purchase one! Fake bags, fake sunglasses, etc. etc. Honestly, am I the only one who reads those advertisements in Bazaar every month that explicitly warn us that the money used to purchase those horribly fake bags goes straight to terrorists! I mean come on...(please note that there is a hint on sarcasm going on here).  But like any person, I have to break my own rule every once and a while, and here you have: The Faux Fur Vest.  The first time it's been good to fake it ;)

The Lipstick Index

When people treat themselves to little splurges like buying makeup or getting a manicure, during a bad economy, it's referred to as The Lipstick Index.  Sometimes I wonder if this term was coined because of my friends.  Day after day we complain how broke we are, how we need to save, and how we need to make a LOT more money.  Yet, week after week, we shop for clothes (now at H&M instead of Intermix), purchase new make up (now Rimmel London over Laura Mercier), and meet for drinks and "appetizers" instead of a four course meal.  But, like any female, one thing we cannot adjust is the importance of maintaining our nails.  So, instead of spending $40 on a mani/pedi (yes, it's $40 because who actually says no to the extra 10 minute 'massag-ie'), why don't you make some small tiny investments and learn how to primp and preen your own nails!  Here are some of my favorite colors for the fall!

*Very important side note, always use a clear top coat when dry.  My favorite is Essie, Good To Go.
**Very Very important side note, WHO comes up with nail polish names and HOW do I get that job??

Sheer Blouses

This season I'm noticing more and more sheer blouses, and I couldn't be happier.  It's as if everyone took a page right out of Carrie Bradshaw's book and decided to do the classic sheer with feminine bra underneath.  I think the most important thing when wearing this trend is not wearing a boring ugly tank top under.  You have to be ready and willing to go a little risque...standard tank tops RUIN the look.  I repeat, RUIN.  As long as the blouse is buttoned and your bra is full coverage, you'll achieve the trendy not tacky, look.  Here are some of my favorites...

The long awaited return has arrived...

It's been two years since my last post and I'm ready to start again.  Call it fall fever if you will, but there is something about the seasons changing that brings out all the best and most exciting clothes.  While walking home from an extra intense work out session a relaxing machine pilates class, I stopped into my favorite boutique, Gramercy Project and took some pictures of my favorite fall finds.  How's that for alliteration??

(Sweater by ARO, Necklace by La Raffinerie) I would wear black skinny jeans and short black boots with this sweater.  Think combat boots/Jeffrey Campbell-esque style.  Since the sweater is a little see-thru and rough looking, add a feminine lacy bra under to contrast the look.  The necklace is phenomenal and it was actually hard for me to resist not adding it to every outfit!

(Dress by Dolce Vita) Animal print is one of the biggest things this fall, and this dress couldn't be any more perfect.  The key thing to remember with animal print is that everything else you're accessorizing with needs to be solid and secondary to the dress.  I'd do all black leather.  1.) Small black leather fringe bag.  2) Black ballet flats (only if simple and have NO tacky embellishments-I despise most ballet flats) or a harder short cowboy boot. 3) Some gold jewelry on the wrists and neck!

(Blouse by Mink Pink) Winter white is one of my favorite trends this season.  It's fresh, clean, and most importantly, not black.  I would wear this tucked in with high-waisted flared jeans.  Billow it out of the waist to show off the jeans and accentuate your curves!  Go with either a light: Pastel Pink or Beige, or extremely bright heel: Turquoise, Purple, or Cheetah Print.

To purchase any of these items, please visit Gramercy Project http://projectshops.com/ at 240 3rd Avenue.  Go this Thursday from 5-8pm and receive 20% off your purchase! Just mention my blog at the register :)
