Cropped Tops? Yes, please!

We've seen fashion-forward Whitney Port wearing them, so naturally, it's our turn now.   I'll admit it, I'm not 100% sure how to pull off the cropped top perfectly, but I think I've got some pretty decent ideas.

First off, I'd probably say to wear with jeans that fit you flawlessly...no muffin tops or apple bottoms wanted!  A dark skinny, or a high-waisted bell bottom, both with, as Rachel Zoe says, tranny shoes.

Think what that money could bring, I'd buy everything. Clean out Vivienne Westwood, In my Galliano gown. No, wouldn't just have one hood, a Hollywood mansion if I could. Please book me first-class to my fancy house in London town. - Gwen

Well here it is, my fall wish list.  From Gryphon to Elizabeth & James, from fur to sequins, it's all there and ready to be purchased.  Most of what made the list is available at Bloomingdale's, and this Thursday-Sunday is their Friends & Family 20% off event.  If you don't have the coupon, just type in FRIENDS when purchasing online.

"Amber Black Silk Jumpsuit" by Wink, on sale for $277.20
The jumpsuit has reached perfection.  Wide legs, black silk, and ruffles, what more could a girl ask for?

"The Sequin Shorts" by Gryphon, $370
These are so great, and very classy looking-not too short.  Perfect for night-pair with black silk strappy tank-think Joie.

"Shirttall Mini Dress" by Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent, $372
Great color to brighten up the colder fall days. Would look great with a big brown fur jacket!

"The Rocker Vest" by Gryphon, $725
Well this price tag is a little ridiculous, especially because it's faux fur...really Gryphon?? Anyway, it's still awesome-the collar beading is beyond fabulous and this vest would make any outfit instantly chic.

"Lauren Top" by Wink, $154
This silk tank has a fabulous subtleness to it.  It's a twisted, racer back and has amazing, vibrant colors. Would spice up any suit and would go great with cream.

"Runway Fringe Cardigan" by Rebecca Taylor, $365
So comfy, perfect for just lounging around or running errands.

"Fur Skirt" by Elizabeth & James, $285
This skirt is so soft!  This would look great with a bright top and blazer.  A perfect, classic, mini.

"Follage Dress" by Elizabeth & James, $465
Perfect, done.

"Sequin Dress with Keyhole Back" by Alice & Olivia, $495
Ahh, sequins.  I'm just overly obsessed.  This dress was done perfectly with a sexy, yet classy, keyhole back.  Just make sure you have the long skinny legs to rock this one, because it is short!

Look of the Week, 9/20/09

Well boys & girls...last week I thought it'd be the easiest week to find a look for this because of the Emmy's.  But, I bet I'm the only person in the world of fashion blogs that is refusing to comment on the Red Carpet.  Honestly, I was so disappointed.  Ahh, it would have been such an easy post "Best & Worst Dressed", but no, I just couldn't get that lucky because you know what?  I put 99% of the people that attended those awards on the worst dressed list.  *Rachel Zoe, I hope those rumors of you not working with Debra Messing anymore are true because that semi glitter/sequin dress she was in was so tacky... SICK Debra, how could you wear that dress?!?!*

Anyway, I'll stop ranting and raving and just let you know who won myyyy look of the week award.

Kate Walsh
Not only does Kate have the MOST amazing body-omg her legs! But Kate, you really make being 40+ look simple.  You're rocking all the trends-sequins (Stella McCartney), boyfriend blazer, and black&white, without looking like you took more than five minutes or premeditated this trendy and fabulous outfit.  Completely effortless.

Shoe of the week, 9/20/09

Anouk, by Delman
$525

I'm sorry but how amazing is this boot.  Forget the price, lets just think about how great they will look with skinny jeans-blue or black...yes I'm a fan of brown & black together.  Pair these boots with a rather simple outfit and add a creamy vest or chunky sweater, and it will be fabulous.   I will gladly welcome the cold weather as long as these are in my closet.  Oh-a little FYI, they also come in black :)

A new day, a new reason...

So, I must first start out by emphasizing that I am A. not a photographer, B. do not know models, and C. do not own a studio, so all my shots are makeshift until I move my way up the fashion ladder and can, eventually, have all of the above in my possession. I decided to do some fall looks, taken from my closet only, for a couple different types of events.

Outfit #1: This is perfect for a night out whether it's a date, dinner with the girls, or something where trendiness and edge are a must. I actually wore this to the 3.1 Philip Lim show during NYC Fashion Week (last week).
Shirt: Aqua, Skirt: Topshop, Tights: Wolford, Shoes: Stuart Weitzman for Scoop

Outfit #2: This is what I call my "I want to be Rachel Zoe" outfit. Honestly, I didn't even realize what I was doing, except that I was about to miss my train and needed something fast. Perfect for shopping, grabbing lunch, or a low key night. The "shirt" is actually a dress I bought years ago but didn't quite fit me perfectly, so I'm actually loving it as a baggier shirt. Because of the fringe on the vest, the platform shoes, and the long + baggy/flare pants, I would say this outfit leans more to the bohemian side of the trends right now. And honestly, I'm just kinda obsessed with it. Remember, always look in your closet and try different things on together because A. it's a lot more affordable than buying an entirely new outfit and B. you have no idea how many outfits you can make from your existing wardrobe. The three R's: Recycle, Re-wear, and REINVENT! (Key Note** Make sure you wear SUPER SUPER SUPER high shoes with this style jeans!!!!)
Shirt(Dress): DVF, Vest: Millau, Jeans: Dry Aged Denim, Scarf: I found on my recent trip to Jordan. This is actually meant to wear around your head/neck to block the sun and heat, but your little fashionista bought it in 4 different colors and decided it'd fit so much better as a woman's scarf Shoes: Sergio Rossi

Outfit #3: Okay, please please please excuse the way the "skinny pants" look...hahahaha I'm actually laughing while I'm writing this because I'm embarrassed, but honestly, you try making a studio in your bedroom! Okay anyway, I think this outfit is perfect for work (as long as you work without a dress code) or just for hanging out. It combines the floral that is pretty hot this season, with the studded biker boots that make any outfit ahhhhmazing. It's a simple go to that you can also wear with the jeans and shoes from outfit #2.
Tank: American Apparel, Blouse: What Goes Around Comes Around, Pants: Wolford Tights (in one picture), Rich & Skinny (in the other), Boots: Matisse

Shoe of the week, 9/13/09

H. Williams, Rueda Black Suede (also comes in amazing snake skin), $558.00.

These shoes, zipped, are great for dressier nights out and I'd wear them with skinny dark blue jeans or a dress and tights. For a more casual look, unzip them and wear with harem pants. Where to buy? www.plazatoo.com.

The Hills Are Alive...

WITH GLITZ!

There must be something in the water if all three of these frenemies are wearing similar dresses. Within one week, Kristin, Audrina and LC rocked out in glitzy, glittery, shimmery minis for three different events. Even though they're dresses could rival each others, they're still very different. Kristin looks hot in her dress that shows off her toned limbs, Audrina-per usual, looks trashy in a "I'm trying to be trendy" sort of way, and LC, well she just looks sweet and perfectly coiffed.

Kristin Cavillari at the MTV VMA awards

Audrina Patridge, at the Entertainment Weekly & Women in Film Pre-Emmy Bash

Lauren Conrad, at the VH1 Diva's Live

Dresses like those, but for less, AQUA, AQUA, AQUA:

Aqua, Short Draped Sequin Disco Dress, $198
This dress is an outfit in itself. Keep the jewelry to a minimum and pair with tall, towering heels (color, think black or gold). Wear with tights, or, if you're toned and tan, without.

Aqua, Sequined Tank Dress, $158
I would definitely pair this dress with a black leather jacket and pumps. I think black pumps would be the best if you're not wearing tights, but if you're wearing tights, try for a contrasting color-maybe green or purple. Keep jewelry to a minimum on this dress too...the sequin's shine and shimmer act as jewelry.

Look of the Week, 9/13/09

Lauren Conrad. This girl can do no wrong in my eyes. She may be whiny and slightly annoying when it comes to guys, but this girl really gets an A+ when it comes to fashion. LC continuously finds the perfect outfits that are never too over the top or inaccessible for the little fashionistas (aka me) who attempt to mimic her looks. So congrats LC, this award goes to YOU!

Cheers to Macys...for finally getting it right.

Rachel by Rachel Roy has really improved the stock in this usually heinous store (I don't have to like every store!). Anywhoooo, check these cute things out...affordable too!!! While these can all be worn separately, they will also look absolutely fabulous together!

Jumpsuit, $119
I'd wear simple, classy gold jewelry and chunky colorful heels or fringy tan/brown sandals (weather permitting). Hair- would be good in a long wavy look. Loose and effortless is the way to go for this.

Faux Fur Vest, $149
Oh gosh, you can really pair this with anything. I've found that my fur vest really makes any outfit about 10x better. Wear with a cutesy floral sun dress, a black maxi, or just jeans (bell bottomed or skinny) and a simple tee or tank! Heels with fur...definitely!

Peep Toe Ankle Boot, $129
These would look so great with a black mini skirt or skimpy dress-if it's cold do not fear the black opaque tights, they are such a life saver for those "fat" days...ugh. I would suggest that if you've got the long, skinny legs...rock the ankle boots and short (albeit classy!!!) dress/skirt.

**I have not seen any of these in person so if they're horrible, please let me know!
Happy Shopping!

DVF, $395

Elizabeth & James, $485

Naughty Monkey, On sale at LF for $28, Zappos.com $71.38

My new obsession...LnA

LnA is the softest, comfiest, most amazing brand. They have about a million bright colors to choose from, yet never neglect the wonderful black and white basics. My favorites are the Zipper Leggings in Violet, Royal and Noir; The zipper tee in all the colors; and then all the sleeveless tanks.
